“Becoming a Leader” by Dr. Myles Munroe – Chapter 1

I have decided to embark on a new journey in promoting self-development. It is true what they say, you learn new things every day and with this project, I intend to do so.

I have recently purchased the book Becoming a Leader by Dr. Myles Munroe and I wanted to make sure that everything I read becomes so engrained in the membrane that I can remember what I learn years from now. And so, here we are.

I want to take note of what I learn and perhaps add my perspective or self-realization or comment or any “ah-ha!” moment. Without, of course, spoiling the entire book.

So let’s dive in…

Lesson Learned

One thing I noticed about this book is that it made several references to the Bible and, of course, God. I had no idea who Dr. Myles Munroe was until I did my research, which, admittedly, was not very much; but what I did gather was that he was a speaker, an author, and a pastor. So duh, God was about to be all up in this.

The first chapter starts off with what seems to be a common understanding of who can become a leader.

Before reading this book, I thought, just as I presume many people do, that leaders are these unique individuals that are are celestially chosen to fulfill a grand purpose. As it turns out, I WAS WRONG.

I learned that anyone can become a leader. They do not have to have a special set of powers. They are created, not born.

Dr. Munroe emphasizes that when we were created, it was in God’s image and likeness. I didn’t know what that really meant until I read a little further. He states that God is the King and Ruler of the universe, so we, very deeply embedded have the spirit of rulership and authority.

Basically, in all of us, there is a leader dormant waiting just for the moment that we allow it to shine through.

Mind blown…

My Favorite Quote

“Leaders are ordinary people who accept or are placed under extraordinary circumstances that bring forth their latent potential, producing character that inspires the confidence and trust of others”

Becoming a Leader, Myles Munroe

Wow.. simply wow. I am as ordinary as it gets and if there is a glimpse of a possibility that I can become a leader, you bet your anything that I will do it. I am anxiously waiting what the next chapter brings.

I have a great feeling about this one.
